- If your property meets certain site requirements, we could obtain approval for you under Complying Development or CDC. This is a much faster and cost effective way than the alternative which is applying through Council (DA & CC). Even if your looking to sell your property, obtaining a DA or CDC for a granny flat is an excellent idea and a great incentive for a buyer.
- COMPLYING DEVELOPMENT GRANNY FLAT APPROVAL The minimum site requirements for a granny flat approval as a Complying Development include:
- • Minimum preoprty area of 450m²
- • Property is zoned as residential (eg R1, R2, R3...)
- • There must be a 12 metre width at the building line of the existing dwelling.
- • Maintain a 3.0m setback from the rear and 0.9m from side boundaries
- • Maintain a distance of 3.0m from any existing trees that are over 6m in height
- • Maximum 60m² internal area for your granny flat
Backyard Studios
Studios are a great idea if you need that extra room or an office space in the backyard. With a maximum allowable gross floor space of 36 square metres, you could build a room with a bathroom and small kitchen.
